A bend can be between 2 items, but not one broken one. There may be a way to blazon this correctly, but it'd be a least a weirdness or step from period practice to cut and separate a monster this way, if it's possible at all.
This idea came to me from someone using the wording pattern: "A (widget) between a (critter)". How can 1 thing be BETWEEN 1 other thing??
